You will begin your tour of beautiful
Munich, in the
historic Old Town, where you will be visiting the 12th century, the heart of the city-
Marienplatz. Here you will see the neo-gothic
Rathaus (New Town Hall), complete with its world-famous
Glockenspiel clock. The square also boasts many beautiful boutiques and restaurants.
You will then explore the Viktualienmarkt, a bustling market district, complete with 140 shops and stalls where you can pick up anything from flowers, spices and traditional German treats. Enjoy a treat (included in the tour price) before heading to a local Biergarten or the nearby Hofbrauhaus, a traditional German beer hall where you will find Oktoberfest all year round! Enjoy a short break and a beer before continuing with the tour (a glass of beer is included in the tour price).
Next, we see the Alter Hof, the former imperial residence of Louis IV, Holy Roman Emperor before paying a visit to Odeonsplatz, named after the former Odeon Concert Hall and home to the Residenz, the former royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria and the largest city palace in Germany. Explore the Residenz gardens and courtyards before heading out to Munich's Englischer Garten. Established in 1789, the Englischer Garten is Munich’s most famous city park and is also the oldest in the world. Here you will encounter must-see attractions including the very popular surfing spot!
Finally, we will head back into the old town and end the tour by the magnificent medieval Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Dear Lady), maybe one of the city's most recognisable landmarks with its little green domes that sit atop its two towers.
