Floralis Generica

The Floralis Generica is an aluminium and stainless steel sculpture made by Eduardo Catalano as a gift to the city of Buenos Aires in 2002. It's located on Avenida Figueroa Alcorta in the middle of the United Nations Square, and it's one of the most photographed spots in the city.

It was the first public mobile sculpture in Buenos Aires and it represents "a synthesis of all the flowers and a hope that is reborn every day." as his author once said.

Its structure it's controlled by hydraulics and photoelectric sensors that open at 8 am in the morning and close around midnight portraying the life of a flower being reborn every day.
